A distinct voice exists that stands out from all others. It narrates a tale that has never been heard by any before. This is the voice of darkness. Only those whose soul is made of pain and silence can hear it. If you find yourself among this sorrowful assembly then, sit by this bonfire, rekindle its flame, and lend your ear to the whispers of darkness. An undead has risen, burdened with a curse of unparalleled cruelty and boundless power. Remembering just his name, Rhys, which, in the ancient language of the Gods means chosen, this undead has no recollection of his former life.
Upon summoning him, not even the three Keras, the Goddesses who weave the fate of people, were able to solve the mystery of Rhys’ curse.
An ancient prophecy speaks of an undead, the lowest of beings, destined to shape the fate of the world.
Yet is Rhys truly that undead? And what destiny will he choose for himself and the world?
At the dawn of time, Heidamal, the God of Light, defeated his brother Jarnax, the God of Darkness and spread the sparks of the Primeval Flame across humanity bestowing a soul upon each human being. Many centuries have passed since then, the Gods died fighting each other, and humans, once their servants, now rule the world. A long period of peace ensued until three demons, the Checropes, descendants of the God Jarnax, suddenly reappeared. The sorcerer Radamant, their follower, has seized the Primeval Flame, and the three Checropes have used it to cast the plague of the undead on humankind. Will the dimming of the Primeval Flame herald the end of humanity, too?
Concurrently, an undead has risen, burdened with a curse of unparalleled cruelty and boundless power. Remembering just his name, Rhys, which, in the ancient language of the Gods means chosen, this undead has no recollection of his former life. Upon summoning him, not even the three Keras, the Goddesses who weave the fate of people, were able to solve the mystery of Rhys’ curse.

This is not just the first fantasy saga freely inspired by the lore of Dark Souls, but it delves deeper: all the main characters share a struggle against the cruel destinies imposed upon them by others.
Rhys battles a curse that compels him to kill to maintain his sanity.
Jude, one of the two Chosen Ones, is fated to become Regent of the White Priestesses of Amaldol, despite her yearning to travel and explore the world.
Krun, shaped by a poor and violent upbringing, is driven by an obsession with success and his military career, forsaking his true love in pursuit of advancement among the Flame Protectors, ending up losing her in the end.
Radamant, despite rising to become an extremely powerful sorcerer, is haunted by the fragility originating from his childhood trauma tied to the death of his older sister, a loss that bound him to her through a promise.
All these contrasts generate great suffering, yet each character reacts differently to it.
The essence of this work revolves around how individuals confront their pain, their inner demons, and the darkest aspects of themselves (leading to the question: do you harbor a dark soul?)
However, the saga does not glorify suffering, rather it celebrates the courage to face it, knowing that the darkness, even that of the soul, is not in itself something negative: without the darkness one would never witness the twinkling of the stars and the dance of fireflies.
It is a reminder that all the darkness of the night cannot snuff out the light of a single candle.
Volume II. The Mystery of the Goddess of Tears
Volume III. The Guardians of the Abyss
Volume IV. The City of Deception
Volume V. The Goddess of Death’s Priest
Volume VI. The Return of the God of War
Volume VII. The Fate of the Chosen One
A truly remarkable literary debut. Characters very well defined and with strong inner dramas. A lore inspired by Dark souls but that shows original features.

I only bought it because I liked the advertising videos on TikTok and I’m a fan of Dark soul. I didn’t expect anything, instead I was surprised by the quality of the narrative and the psychological depth of the characters. Really a nice surprise!

The book presents a roundup of the main characters that, far from each other, at the beginning, slowly meet. It is an introductory book that presents above all excellent ideas and interesting elements that are potentially explosive for the continuation of the saga. It is not a canonical fantasy, far from the limpid Tolkien and the childish Brooks, but just as different from the Iron Throne of Martin. Recommended for those looking for an adult fantasy with dark shades. Not recommended for those who want a fantasy easy to read full of classical stereotypes.
Rating 4
If the author manages to maintain the quality of the debut book even in later ones, then we may be faced with one of the best fantasy sagas of recent years.
Rating 5
There are few things related directly to Dark Souls, but it remains one of the best fantasy I’ve read lately.
